There is something satisfying about going through drafts of posts and clearing out the outdated ones, much as there is in physical housecleaning. When I blog, I try to have a draft going at all times to keep something on hand in case of writer’s block. It’s served me well, but this means that there are posts that never saw the light of day. Sometimes the thought never completed itself, sometimes I couldn’t get it to work properly, and sometimes the subject matter becomes irrelevant by the time I get around to finishing the post. I just cleared one out from January, which talked specifically about some day-to-day things. It would be weird to post it now.
Another one I discarded was a spindle post I began writing sometime early last year. I even had a pic of my spindles in there, but had held off from posting because that pic was just awful. I had taken it at night, in my old apartment’s yellow lighting, on a purple background that I just could never quite adjust properly. I’ve since acquired several new spindles, and that post has turned into a small series about each of them. I’ll be posting them this summer.
Along with clearing out the old drafts, I am completely revamping the sidebars on this blog. My blogroll is a sad, sad little list that doesn’t really show the sheer number of blogs I read on a regular basis. I will be adding to that–chances are if you’re a regular reader, your name is going to show up in there! I have some pretty awesome blog friends, you know.
This year I am participating in Wardrobe Refashion, which will get its own post at some point soon. The next session begins in May. I signed up for two months, and I have LOTS of stuff I’d like to rework. A sudden desire for new clothes has coincided with an equally sudden longing for my sewing machine, and I have both a huge fabric stash AND a bunch of clothes that are not-quite-perfect just waiting to be reworked. More on that later.
Finally, I’m thinking of doing a new header. The bamboo has been awesome but I want a change. Any yarn from my collection that you guys like in particular? Make suggestions in the comments and maybe I’ll do a little poll based on your recommendations. For the full gallery of yarn (beware, there’s a LOT of yarn), go to my General Handspun set on my Flickr page. The winning yarn will get a whole makeover and photoshoot (aka reskeining if needed and better lighting).
As usual, thank you all for reading!
